Carbon Literacy for Hospitality - Weds 28th February 2024 Online Course

This event is specifically for the Hospitality industry and will provide you with the training to become a Carbon Literate citizen.

The training is designed for Heads of Departments, managers, supervisors, green team members and consultants.

By completing the training you will gain the positive impact of low carbon and understanding the practicalities of measuring and reducing carbon you will benefit your business, increasing your profit margin by being more attractive to increasingly carbon literate travellers, getting ahead of the curve on environmental legislation requirements, reducing operating costs and meeting new industry standards.  A low carbon operation will also build closer links with your local communities, local supply chains and help recruit and retain staff.

Our Course is fully accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project and has a pre-course workbook and then two 3 hour training sessions.

Session 1 (09.30 - 12.30)

Covers an introduction to Carbon Literacy and the science of climate change.  Addresses the impact of climate change globally and for hospitality, discusses carbon footprints and discusses the hospitality sector commitment to reduce carbon by 66% per room per night as set out in the Glasgow declaration.

Session 2 (1.30 - 4.00)

Focuses in on hospitality sector specifics such as carbon measurement for hotels, practical steps towards lowest carbon both for your staff and your business. Supports your staff to develop actions to reduce day to day operational carbon for your business. Concluding with the creation of their low carbon pledge which accompanies their Carbon Literate Citizen award.
